Mystic Wind Cyclone Strike Monk Guide

The Mystic Wind Cyclone Strike Monk has a large area of effect and high movement speed which makes it the best speed farming Monk build in the game with the Tempest Rush Cyclone Strike Monk being a close second. Because this is a speed farming build, PvP options for equipment and legendary gems have been omitted from the guide. With the recommended essences Cyclone Strike will create damaging winds around you, Seven-Sided Strike will passively attack enemies, Inner Sanctuary will burn nearby enemies, and Shield of Zen will damage nearby enemies and reduce your damage taken.

Paragons & Legendary Skills: Mystic Wind Cyclone Strike Monk Build

1. Slinger is the best paragon for damage because it increases your damage and critical hit chance when you use skills.

2. Gladiator is the best PvP paragon tree for this build because it gives a cheat death and helps with loss of control.

3. Vanquisher is the best paragon tree for increased magic find and gives increased damage and attack speed on kills.

4. Harbinger can be used in Erebban for an absorb shield, movement speed, and to move unhindered through enemies.

5. Survivor is the recommended paragon for Vanguard because it has a cheat death that works in Vanguard.

6. The best paragon legendary skill for this build is Lightning Rod which deals damage when you repeatedly hit enemies.

1. Lashed - Using your primary attack gives a chance to generate three crackling whips that damage enemies.

2. Wired - Creates a surge of lightning on kill that jumps between enemies on cooldown.

3. Atrophied - Continual damage causes a dark field to appear under enemies that deals damage over time on cooldown.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Increases your critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

2. Golden Firmament - Causes ranged wind attacks and increases your evasion rating.

3. Maw of the Deep - Can be used at a high rank to deal damage, gain a damage buff, draw in enemies, and stun enemies.

4. Starfire Shard - Useful for PvP to deal damage and stun enemies inside the Maw of the Deep legendary gem effect.

5. Void Spark - Deals AoE damage that's extremely effective in dungeons and the new PvP map.

6. Stormvault - Can be used to damage enemies over time and slows enemies movement speed at rank 5+.

7. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives a damage increase, decreases damage taken, and increases movement speed.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies with a continual damage effect on them.

2. Viper's Bite - Deals damage over time and triggers the damage increase on the Pain Clasp legendary gem.

3. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and causes a blood spike that makes enemies bleed.

4. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.

5. Fervent Fang - Gives enemies a stacking damage taken increase when they are hit by an attack.

6. Igneous Scorn - Can be combined with Roiling Consequence and Mother's Lament to deal damage on critical hits. Igneous Scorn is the lowest priority 2 star gem on the list and should eventually be replaced with a rank 4+ 5 star gem.

Best 1 Star Legendary Gems

1. Everlasting Torment - A great budget option that deals damage over time on critical hits and increases your attack speed.

2. Entropic Well - An excellent one star gem for skill damage that can eventually be replaced with a strong 5 star gem.

3. Berserker's Eye - Increases your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.

Note: These one star gems should eventually be replaced with higher resonance two or five star gems.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - The best option is a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler that has Savior which provides a cheat death. The 170+ Resilience lowers the cooldown for Savior but can be lower to make the familiar more affordable.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Can have Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for more damage.

3. Rare Duskprowler - Relentless Strikes is the next best skill because it gives a chance to cast the Duskprowler shield twice. Innervate which gives a chance at resetting the player's skill cooldown, Steel Hide which gives a chance to block, Precision which gives the shield critical hit chance, and Tenacity which lowers the cooldown of the shield are also desirable.

4. Magic Duskprowler - Duskprowler shields are hard to replace so a rare or magic ability Duskprowler is the budget option.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and Citrines for Potency which increases harmful effects duration in yellow sockets. You should also socket your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. You can optionally combine all of your Rubies which give life and Topazes which give resistances into a couple Rubies and Topazes and use them inside your equipment for higher refinement. Refinement is determined by the quality of the gem and increases the main stats of the equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The new Specter Glass two star legendary gem is one of the best two star gems for almost every build. The new Colossus Engine five star legendary gem isn't recommended for this build. Golden Firmament is a strong fairly new 5 star legendary gem that has wind damage, increased evasion rating, and it triggers Firestorms when mixed with burning damage which increases your wind damage. Roiling Consequence and Mother's Lament both give increased critical hit chance so you should try and roll critical hit damage on every piece of gear with Reforge Stones when using these two critical hit gems.
