Mystic Wind Cyclone Strike Monk Guide
The Mystic Wind Cyclone Strike Monk has a large area of effect and high movement speed which makes it the best speed farming Monk build with the Tempest Rush Monk being a close second. This is a speed farming build so options for PvP legendary gems and PvP equipment have been omitted from the guide.​ With the recommended essences Cyclone Strike creates damaging winds around you, Shield of Zen damages nearby enemies and reduces your damage taken, Inner Sanctuary increases primary attack speed, and Seven-Sided Strike automatically attacks nearby enemies.

Paragons & Legendary Skills: Mystic Wind Cyclone Strike Monk Build

1. Slinger is the best paragon for damage because it increases your damage and critical hit chance when you use skills.
2. Gladiator is the best PvP paragon tree for this build because it gives a cheat death and helps with loss of control.
3. Vanquisher is the best paragon tree for increased magic find and gives increased damage and attack speed on kills.
4. Harbinger can be used in Erebban for an absorb shield, movement speed, and to move unhindered through enemies.
5. Survivor is recommended in Vanguard when you have a low charm because it has a cheat death that works in Vanguard.
6. The best paragon legendary skill for this build is Lightning Rod which deals damage when you repeatedly hit enemies.

Note: The increased movement speed on this essence is important and makes this build a great speed farming build.

1. Grace of the Flagellant (4 Set) - Deals bonus damage after damaging an enemy five times.
2. Vithu's Urges (4 Set) - Increases attack speed and the duration of beneficial effects on you and your allies by 30%.​
Note: Look for blue sockets on both of your rings so that you can socket them with Sapphires which give Armor Penetration.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems
1. Roiling Consequence - Increases your critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.
2. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.
3. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, knockback immunity, and increased size (which increases your movement speed) for a medium duration with a 20 second cooldown.
4. Fated Trail - Deals damage over time as a percentage of your life, shatters enemies' armor, and immobilizes enemies.
5. Blood Floe - A lower priority 5 star gem that increases damage, critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and causes bleed.
6. Gloom Cask - Repeatedly deals damage when you use a primary attack and increases your primary attack damage.
7. Golden Firmament (PvM) - Attacks with multiple wind blades and increases your evasion rating.
8. Haunt Coil (PvP) - Greatly reduces your damage taken when you're in a defensive stance for a duration on cooldown.
9. Void Spark (PvM) - Deals massive AoE damage that's effective for challenge dungeons, terror rifts, and speed farming.
10. Seeping Bile (PvP) - Deals high damage over time that is great for killing opponents after they use a cheat death.
Note: This build is not meant for PvP but PvP options are still included in the top legendary five star gems for this build.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems
1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.
2. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and causes a blood spike that makes enemies bleed.
3. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.
4. Fervent Fang - Gives enemies a stacking damage taken increase when they are hit by an attack.​
5. Mourneskull - This legacy gem can be used to increase your damage and deal damage but it no longer drops.
6. Viper's Bite - Low priority gem for this build that deals damage over time and increases your attack speed.
7. Igneous Scorn (PvM) - Can be combined with Roiling Consequence and/or Mother's Lament to deal damage on critical hits. Igneous Scorn is the lowest priority 2 star gem and should be the first to be replaced with a ranked up 5 star gem.
8. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy gem with increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.
Note: Viper's Bite isn't needed to trigger the damage increase on Pain Clasp from there being damage over time on the target because the Shield of Zen skill with the Calefaction main hand essence already deals continuous damage.

Best 1 Star Legendary Gems
1. Berserker's Eye (PvM) - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.
2. Everlasting Torment - A great budget option that deals damage over time on critical hits and increases your attack speed.
3. Entropic Well - An excellent one star gem for skill damage that can eventually be replaced with a five star gem.
4. Surging Sea - A lower priority one star legendary gem that has a skill damage increase that stacks up to 10 times.
Note: Berserker's Eye is a great one star legendary gem that needs a high ranked up 5 star gem to match its damage.

Best Familiars
1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler with the Savior passive skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the familiar lowers the cooldown of Savior.
2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Can have Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for more damage.
3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong, especially in PvP, because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience to reduce the cooldown of Savior.
4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as an alternative.
5. Rare Duskprowler - Relentless Strikes is the next best skill because it gives a chance to cast the Duskprowler shield twice. Innervate gives a chance at resetting one of the player's skill cooldowns, Steel Hide gives a chance to block, Precision gives critical hit chance, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are also desirable.
Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems
Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and a combination of Citrines and Topazes for potency and resistances in yellow sockets for the highest refinement. Potency increases harmful effects durations on enemies and resistances decrease harmful effects durations on you. Citrines for potency is preferred if you only care about PvM damage but resistances come into play more with PvP. You should also use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. You can optionally combine all of your bound Rubies which give life into one or two Rubies and socket them into your equipment if they give more refinement. Gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes on the equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes
The new Fated Trail five star gem is a powerful legendary gem that scales with your maximum life which increases with resonance. The fairly new Haunt Coil five star gem can optionally be used to increase your damage or reduce your damage taken by up to 45% for a duration. The Blood Floe gem is a great option when it's combined with multiple sources of increased critical hit chance and critical hit damage. The Seeping Bile legendary gem deals continuous damage but it's not needed to trigger the damage increase on the Pain Clasp legendary gem from having continuous damage on the target because Inner Sanctuary and Shield of Zen already deal continuous damage. Golden Firmament is a strong five star gem for this build that has wind damage, increased evasion, and it triggers Firestorms when it's mixed with burning damage which increases your wind damage. When using multiple increased critical hit chance legendary gems you should also consider rolling increased critical hit damage on every piece of equipment with Reforge Stones for more damage.​
