Main Hand

Thistle Bloom - Arcane Wind now creates a wind storm that draws enemies into its vortex.

Note: This main hand essence makes Arcane Wind one of the best crowd control Wizard skills in the game.

Off-Hand

Chaosrupture (PvM) - Black Hole now explodes after a short delay and gains an additional charge.

Alder Crystal (PvP) - This essence freezes chilled enemies inside your Arcane Wind on cooldown.

​

Main Hand 2

Asymmetric Reality (PvM) - Disintegrate drains energy from opponents recovering energy each time it hits.

Scourcut (PvP) - Disintegrate now has increased range which is helpful for PvP fights.

Off-Hand 2

Trifling Piffle (PvM) - Lightning Nova now also releases another Lightning Nova when hitting a Shocked enemy.

Weathering Eye (PvP) - This essence slows enemies when they're hit by your Arcane Wind storm.

Helmet

Silver Lining (PvM) - Black Hole now also increases damage dealt for a medium duration.

Pillars of the Schools (PvP) - Ice Crystal now also shatters enemies armor increasing their damage taken.

Shoulders

Searing Judgment - Disintegrate now also changes its damage type to fire damage and burns enemies.

​

Chest

Coat of the Astrum (PvM) - Lightning Nova now unleashes arcs of lightning that automatically target nearby enemies.

Frostreaver's Garments (PvP) - Ice Crystal now has greater damage over time and causes a stacking chill effect.

Note: The Coat of Astrum essence has been added for PvM with the fairly new Skybreaker's Bolt set because it Shocks enemies which conjures twice the number of Lightning Novas when using the Trifling Piffle offhand essence.

Legs

Traipse of Woe (PvM) - Disintegrate now also increases all of your damage stacking up to three times.

Greaves of the Firmament (PvP) - Disintegrate now also deals additional damage every three hits on an enemy.

Recommended Sets

1. Grace of the Flagellant (4 Set) - Deals additional damage every five times you deal damage to an enemy.

2. Skybreaker's Bolt (2 Set) - Unleashes lightning that Shocks enemies and damages enemies over time.

3. Vithu's Urges (2 Set) - Increases your beneficial effects duration by 30%.​

Skill Enchants

1. Aim for at least two extra Disintegrate beams from skill enchants to fire three Disintegrate beams in both PvM and PvP.

Note: Stacking four extra Disintegrate beams from skill enchants also makes Disintegrate deal excellent AoE damage.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Increases your critical hit chance on cooldown and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

2. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.​

3. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, knockback immunity, and increased size (which increases your movement speed) for a medium duration with a 20 second cooldown.

4. Blood Floe - A strong five star gem that increases damage, critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and causes bleed.

5. Wulfheort - Marks enemies causing them to take damage when they're hit on cooldown and increases attack speed.​

6. Fated Trail - Deals damage as a percentage of your life, shatters enemies' armor, and immobilizes enemies.

7. ​Starfire Shard - This legendary gem deals AoE damage to enemies, stuns enemies, and burns them over time.

5. Wulfheort (PvM) - Marks enemies dealing damage to them when they're hit on cooldown and increases attack speed.

8. Seeping Bile (PvP) - Deals high damage over time that is great for killing opponents after they use a cheat death.

9. Void Spark (PvM) - Deals AoE damage that's very effective for challenge dungeons, terror rifts, and speed farming.

10. ​Seeping Bile (PvP) - Gives a chance to poison enemies and slows their movement speed inside your Arcane Wind skill.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.

2. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and releases a blood spike that causes enemies to bleed.

3. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.

4. Fervent Fang - Gives a stacking damage increase and increases your damage against elites and bosses.

5. Mourneskull - This legacy gem increases your damage and deals damage but it's now drop disabled.

6. Viper's Bite - Optional gem to deal damage over time but it's not needed to trigger the Pain Clasp gem on this build.

7. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy gem that gives increased damage and reduced damage taken but it's drop disabled.

8. Igneous Scorn (PvM) - Can be combined with other critical hit chance legendary gems to deal damage on critical hits.

Note: Pain Clasp is triggered by the burn from the Disintegrate skill when using the Searing Judgment shoulder essence.

Best 1 Star Starter Legendary Gems

1. Berserker's Eye (PvM) - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.

2. Entropic Well - A great one star legendary gem that increases your skill damage and increases your attack speed.

​3. Everlasting Torment - Deals damage over time on critical hits which also triggers the damage increase on Pain Clasp.

4. Trickshot Gem - A budget gem that lowers channeling costs which allows you to channel Disintegrate for longer.

5. Surging Sea - A lower priority one star gem that has a stacking skill damage increase that stacks up to 10 times.

6. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical strikes and greatly reduces their movement speed.

Note: Berserker's Eye is a strong one star gem that requires a high ranked up 5 star gem to match its damage.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler with the Savior passive skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the familiar lowers the cooldown of Savior.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Look for Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong, especially in PvP, because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience to reduce the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as an alternative.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Relentless Strikes is the next best skill because it gives a chance to cast the Duskprowler shield twice. Innervate gives a chance at resetting one of the player's skill cooldowns, Steel Hide gives a chance to block, Precision gives critical hit chance, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are also desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and your highest refinement Citrines and Topaz in yellow sockets. Citrines are better in PvP for increased harmful effect duration. You should use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. You can optionally combine all of your bound Rubies which give life and socket one or two of them in your equipment if they give higher refinement. Normal gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes of the equipment they're socketed in.​

Gem Notes

The new Fated Trail five star legendary gem is a powerful gem once you have high maximum life from plenty of ranked up five star gems. The Blood Floe five star gem is a great option when it's combined with multiple sources of increased critical hit chance and critical hit damage. Viper's Bite and Seeping Bile aren't needed to trigger the damage increase on the Pain Clasp gem from having continuous damage on the target because Arcane Wind already deals continuous damage. When using increased critical hit chance legendary gems like Roiling Consequence, Blood Floe, and Mother's Lament you should also consider rolling increased critical hit damage on your equipment using Reforge Stones for more damage.​
