Main Hand

Stonefall - Hammer of the Ancients now also deals increased damage.

Flickertonne - Hammer of the Ancients now charges up for increased damage each time you use a different attack.

Note: This is the most important essence because it allows you to charge Hammer of the Ancients for more damage.

Riddlerue (PvM) - When Frenzy deals a critical hit your attack speed is increased for a short duration.

Oath Crusher (PvP) - Hammer of the Ancients now also decreases your damage taken for three seconds.

Off-Hand 2

Bergbreaker (PvM) - Wrath of the Berserker now increases your movement speed and retaliates when you take damage.

Helmet Splitter (PvP) - Wrath of the Berserker now increases your movement speed, reduces your damage taken, and reduces the duration of loss of control effects on you.

Krubask's Sneer - During Wrath of the Berserker your critical hit chance is also increased.

Shoulders

Nature's Temper (PvM) - Wrath of the Berserker now also causes primary attacks to consume life to deal extra damage.

Stone and Kettle (PvP) - Wrath of the Berserker now also reduces your damage taken.

Note: The self damage of the Nature's Temper shoulder essence triggers the retaliation from the Bergbreaker offhand.

Shackled Fate - Chain Spear now summons a spirit that repeatedly damages enemies and draws enemies into you.

Exulted Demise - Undying Rage now replaces a large portion of your life with an absorb shield, majorly increases your damage, and gives a passive cheat death that gives 30% life drain when triggered.

1. Grace of the Flagellant (4 Set) - Deals additional damage after every five hits on an enemy.

2. Vithu's Urges (2-4 Set) - This set increases beneficial effects durations by 30% which includes Wrath of the Berserker.

3. Untouchable Mountebank (2 Set PvP) - Gives a chance to gain an absorb shield when you take damage.

Note: Look for blue sockets on both of your rings for Sapphires or Aquamarines which give Armor Penetration or Armor.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Increases your critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

2. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.

3. Fated Trail - Deals damage over time as a percentage of your life, shatters enemies' armor, and immobilizes enemies.

4. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, knockback immunity, and increased size (which increases your movement speed) for a medium duration with a 20 second cooldown.

5. Blood Floe - A strong five star gem that increases damage, critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and causes bleed.

6. Bottled Hope - Increases your damage and movement speed after using a buff skill like Wrath of the Berserker.

7. Seeping Bile - Gives a chance to poison enemies, slow their movement speed, and triggers the Pain Clasp two star gem.

8. Golden Firmament (PvM) - Causes multiple ranged wind damage attacks and increases your evasion rating.

9. Frozen Heart (PvP) - Gives an absorb shield for a medium duration and chills enemies.

Note: Bottled Hope should only be used for damage and movement speed if you have plenty of rank 4+ 5 star gems.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.

2. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy legendary gem for increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.

3. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and causes a blood spike that makes enemies bleed.

4. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.

5. Mourneskull - This legacy gem can be used to increase your damage and deal damage but it no longer drops.

6. Viper's Bite - A nice gem for early on that deals high damage over time if you have low legendary gems and resonance.

7. Igneous Scorn - Can be combined with Roiling Consequence and Mother's Lament to deal damage on critical hits. Igneous Scorn is the lowest priority 2 star legendary gem and it should be the first gem to be replaced with a 5 star gem.

8. Fervent Fang (PvM) - Gives a stacking damage increase and increases your damage against elites and bosses.

9. Abiding Curse (PvP) - Greatly lowers enemies' attack speed and movement speed and gives a damage increase.

Note: Pain Clasp, Crimson Behelit, and Mother's Lament are the top three 2 star gems and should be replaced last.

Best Starter 1 Star Legendary Gems

​1. Berserker's Eye - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.​

2. Everlasting Torment - Deals damage over time on crits which triggers the damage increase on the Pain Clasp gem.

​3. Entropic Well - A strong budget one star legendary gem that increases your skill damage and attack speed.

4. Ca'arsen's Invigoration - A lower priority one star legendary gem that increases your primary attack speed.

5. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical strikes and greatly reduces their movement speed.

Note: Berserker's Eye is a great one star legendary gem and requires a high ranked up 5 star gem to match its damage.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler with the Savior passive skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the familiar lowers the cooldown of Savior.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Look for Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong, especially in PvP, because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience to reduce the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as an alternative.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Relentless Strikes is the next best skill because it gives a chance to cast the Duskprowler shield twice. Innervate gives a chance at resetting one of the player's skill cooldowns, Steel Hide gives a chance to block, Precision gives critical hit chance, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are also desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage for PvM and Rubies for life for PvP in red sockets and a combination of Citrines and Topazes for potency and resistances in yellow sockets for the highest refinement. Potency increases harmful effects durations on enemies and resistances decrease harmful effects durations on you. Citrines for potency is preferred if you only care about PvM damage but resistances come into play more with PvP. You should also use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. Gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes on the equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The new Fated Trail five star gem is a powerful legendary gem that scales with your maximum life which increases with your resonance and deals increased damage when you're using Rubies in red sockets. The Haunt Coil five star gem is also important to improve your defenses in PvP when using a defensive stance. The Blood Floe five star gem is a great gem when it's combined with multiple sources of increased critical hit chance and critical hit damage. The Colossus Engine gem is recommended to increase your damage, area of effect, and movement speed from its size increase. The Viper's Bite legendary gem can be used to trigger the Pain Clasp legendary gem which increases your damage when the enemy has a continuous damage effect on them. Seeping Bile shouldn't be used because it has a 4% proc rate for its continuous damage and this build has a low attack rate. When using increased critical hit chance legendary gems you should consider rolling increased critical hit damage on every piece of gear with Reforge Stones. One of your lowest priority gems should also be switched to a Frozen Heart five star legendary gem for PvP for an absorb shield and to chill opponents. ​​
