PvP & PvM Exploding Palm Seven-Sided Strike Monk Guide

The PvP Exploding Palm Seven Sided Strike Monk can use the Tranquil Palm weapon to be untargetable and the Reticent Wind gloves to be invisible whenever you use the Mystic Strike dash skill which has three charges. This Monk build uses Exploding Palm, Seven-Sided-Strike, Mystic Strike, Shield of Zen which is offensive and defensive, and the Fist of Thunder primary skill to teleport next to opponents in PvP. This build also has a variation that has better AoE damage and survival than the single target meta Monk. It uses Exploding Palm, Seven-Sided Strike, Mystic Ally, Fist of Thunder, and an offensive and defensive version of Shield of Zen. Paragons & Legendary Skills: Exploding Palm Seven-Sided Strike Monk

1. Slinger is the best damage paragon because it increases your damage and critical hit chance when you use skills.

2. Gladiator is the best PvP paragon tree for this build because it gives a cheat death and helps with loss of control.

3. Vanquisher is the best paragon tree for increased magic find and gives increased damage and attack speed on kills.

4. Harbinger can be used in Erebban for an absorb shield, movement speed, and to move unhindered through enemies.

5. Survivor is the recommended paragon for Vanguard because it has a cheat death that works in Vanguard.

6. The best paragon legendary skill for this build is Lightning Rod which deals damage when you repeatedly hit enemies.

Leaping Shadow - Seven-Sided Strike now empowers you launching attacks at nearby enemies.

Off-Hand

Tranquil Palm - Exploding Palm now makes you untargetable while teleporting around damaging nearby enemies.

Calefaction - Shield of Zen now deals damage, reduces damage taken, and makes you immune to knockback.

Reticent Wind (PvP) - Mystic Strike causes you to become invisible for a duration.

Thousandth Cut (PvM) - Fist of Thunder has increased damage for each abnormal status on the enemy.

Crippling Insight (PvP) - Exploding Palm now has two charges.

Malefic Apparition (PvM) - Mystic Allies also increase your critical hit chance for every spirit ally stacking up to four times.

Soiled Feast - Seven-Sided Strike also triggers Exploding Palm without consuming it but the explosion deals less damage.

Shoulders

Ascending Raincloud (PvP) - Mystic Strike increases your evasion rating significantly for a medium duration.

Windchild (PvM) - Seven-Sided Strike now also increases your movement speed.

Legs

Hidden Way (PvP) - Exploding Palm now can stack and its explosion damage is increased for every stack.

Waxing Steps (PvM) - Mystic Allies primary attacks have a chance at summoning an additional spirit ally.

Recommended Sets

1. Grace of the Flagellant (4 Set) - Deals damage to enemies after every 5 hits against each target.

2. Vithu's Urges (2 Set) - Increases the duration of beneficial effects on you or your party members by 30%.

3. Banquet of Eyes (PvM 2 Set) - Increases damage to enemies by 15% when they have continual damage on them.

4. Untouchable Mountebank (PvP 2 Set) - Gives a 20% chance to gain an absorb shield when you take damage.

Best Curses

1. Lashed - Using your primary attack gives a chance to generate three crackling whips that damage enemies.

2. Atrophied - Continual damage causes a dark field to appear under enemies that deals damage over time.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Increases your critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

2. Golden Firmament - Causes ranged wind attacks and increases your evasion rating.

3. Maw of the Deep - Can be used at a high rank to deal damage, gain a damage buff, draw in enemies, and stun enemies.

4. Starfire Shard (PvP) - Used for PvP to deal damage and stun enemies inside the Maw of the Deep legendary gem effect.

5. Frozen Heart (should be switched to for PvP) - Gives an absorb shield with a medium duration and chills enemies.

6. Void Spark - Deals AoE damage that's extremely effective in dungeons and the new PvP map.

7. Stormvault (PvP) - Can be used at rank 5+ to damage enemies over time and slows enemies movement speed.

8. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives a damage increase and a significant boost to movement speed. It's one of the best 5 star gems at high ranks for increased damage and one of the weakest 5 star gems for increased damage at lower ranks.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies with a continual damage effect on them.

2. Viper's Bite - Deals damage over time and triggers the damage increase on the Pain Clasp legendary gem.

3. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and causes a blood spike that makes enemies bleed.

4. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.

5. Fervent Fang - Gives enemies a stacking damage taken increase when they are hit by an attack.

6. Crimson Behelit (PvP) - Great PvP two star legendary gem for increased damage and reduced damage taken.

Best 1 Star Legendary Gems

1. Everlasting Torment - A budget option gem that deals damage over time on critical hits and increases your attack speed.

2. Entropic Well - An excellent one star gem for skill damage that can eventually be replaced with a strong 5 star gem.

3. Berserker's Eye - Increases your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.

Note: These one star gems should eventually be replaced with higher resonance two or five star gems.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - The best option is a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler that has Savior which provides a cheat death. The 170+ Resilience lowers the cooldown for Savior but can be lower to make the familiar more affordable.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Can have Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Rare Duskprowler - Relentless Strikes is the next best skill because it gives a chance to cast the Duskprowler shield twice. Innervate which gives a chance at resetting the player's skill cooldown, Steel Hide which gives a chance to block, Precision which gives the shield critical hit chance, and Tenacity which lowers the cooldown of the shield are also desirable.

4. Magic Duskprowler - Duskprowler shields are hard to replace so a rare or magic ability Duskprowler is the budget option.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and Citrines for Potency which increases harmful effects duration in yellow sockets. You should also socket your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. You can optionally combine all of your Rubies which give life and Topazes which give resistances into a couple Rubies and Topazes and use them inside your equipment for higher refinement. Refinement is determined by the quality of the gem and increases the attributes of the equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The new Specter Glass two star legendary gem is one of the best two star gems for almost every build that has increased critical hit chance. Golden Firmament is a strong fairly new 5 star legendary gem that has wind damage, increased evasion rating, and Firestorms when mixed with burning damage which gives increased wind damage. The Stormvault legendary gem is a low priority five star gem for this build but it can be used in PvP once it's rank 5+ to slow enemies and it deals damage over time to enemies. The Seeping Bile legendary gem isn't needed on this build to trigger the damage increase on the Pain Clasp legendary gem from having continual damage on the target because Shield of Zen already has burning damage. Roiling Consequence, Specter Glass, and Mother's Lament give increased critical hit chance so you should try and roll critical hit damage on every piece of gear with Reforge Stones when using these gems. One of your lowest priority legendary gems should also be replaced with a Frozen Heart for PvP for an absorb shield and to chill opponents.
