Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Increases your critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

2. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.

3. Gloom Cask - Damages targets when you use your primary attacks on cooldown and increases their damage.

4. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, knockback immunity, and increased size (which increases your movement speed) for a medium duration with a 20 second cooldown.

5. Fated Trail - Deals damage over time as a percentage of your life, shatters enemies' armor, and immobilizes enemies.

6. Blood Floe - A strong five star gem that increases damage, critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and causes bleed.​

7. Bottled Hope - Increases your attack and movement speed on cooldown when you use a buff skill (you have three).

8. Wulfheort (PvM) - After damaging enemies 5 times you slash them and increase attack speed for you and your allies.

9. Seeping Bile (PvP) - This gem deals damage over time, slows opponents, and kills opponents after their cheat deaths.

Note: The Bottled Hope five star gem shouldn't be used for damage until you have multiple rank 4+ five star gems.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.

2. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and releases a blood spike that causes enemies to bleed.

3. Fervent Fang - Gives enemies a stacking damage taken increase each time they are hit with an attack.

4. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.

5. Power & Command - Increases skill damage and primary damage alternating back and forth and sometimes dispels.

​6. Mourneskull - This legacy gem can be used to increase your damage and to deal damage but it's drop disabled.

7. Igneous Scorn (PvM) - Deals damage on critical hits and increases your damage after critical hits. Igneous Scorn is the lowest priority two star legendary gem and should be the first to be replaced with a ranked up five star gem.

8. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy legendary gem with increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.

Note: Pain Clasp, Crimson Behelit, and Mother's Lament are the top three 2 star gems and should be replaced last.

Best Starter 1 Star Legendary Gems

1. Berserker's Eye (PvM) - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.

2. Entropic Well - An excellent 1 star gem for skill damage that can be replaced at higher levels with a strong 5 star gem.

3. Trickshot Gem - Budget option to lower channeling costs which allows you to channel Strafe for a longer duration.

4. Everlasting Torment - Deals damage over time on critical hits and increases your attack speed.

5. Ca'arsen's Invigoration - A great one star gem for this build that increases your primary attack speed.

6. Surging Sea - A lower priority one star legendary gem that has a skill damage increase that stacks up to 10 times.

7. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical strikes and greatly reduces their movement speed.

Note: Trickshot Gem should be replaced first because it deals the least damage of the one star legendary gems.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler with the Savior passive skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the familiar lowers the cooldown of Savior.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Look for Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong, especially in PvP, because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience to reduce the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as an alternative.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Relentless Strikes is the next best skill because it gives a chance to cast the Duskprowler shield twice. Innervate which gives a chance at resetting one of the player's skill cooldowns, Steel Hide which gives a chance to block, Precision which gives critical hit chance, and Tenacity which lowers the cooldown of the shield are also desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and use a combination of your highest refinement Citrines and Topazes for potency and resistances in yellow sockets. Potency increases harmful effects durations on enemies and resistance decreases harmful effects durations on you. You should also use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. You can optionally combine all of your bound Rubies which give life into one or two Rubies and socket them into your equipment if they give more refinement. Gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes on the equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The new Fated Trail five star gem is a powerful legendary gem once you have high maximum life from high resonance. The Bottled Hope five star gem increases your attack speed for more Multishots and Chakrams and has increased movement speed and cooldown reduction. Bottled Hope is recommended because it's close in damage to other options but it also gives increased movement speed. The Blood Floe gem is a great option when it's combined with multiple sources of increased critical hit chance and critical hit damage. Gloom Cask is an excellent five star gem for this build because it damages enemies when you use your primary attacks and it increases your primary attack damage. When using multiple legendary gems that increase your critical hit chance you should also consider using Reforge Stones to roll increased critical hit damage on your equipment. The Frozen Heart gem gives an absorb shield but it's not recommended for a Strafe Multishot Demon Hunter for PvP because your damage is more important than your defenses in PvP for this build. ​
