Path of Exile Poisonous Concoction A_edited.jpg

Important Tree Nodes

The best ascendancy order is Nature's Adrenaline, Nature's Boon, Master Alchemist, and Master Toxicist. Take the increased chaos damage over time multiplier, increased damage over time, and damage over time multiplier for poisons nodes to increase your damage. You will also need the flask masteries to maintain life flask charges because Poisonous Concoction expends life flask charges to deal more damage. Try and get at least 100% chance to poison with 20% chance to poison from the tree. A Watcher's Eye jewel is recommended for increased life, increased energy shield, increased mana, 22% damage over time multiplier while affected by Malevolence, and damaging ailments inflict damage 15% faster while affected by Malevolence. The Charge Mastery is important because it gives a chance to gain a Frenzy, Endurance, or Power charge on kill. The Clever Thief node should also be taken for 1% life leech and 1% mana leech on attacksThe Reservation Mastery and Mana Mastery should be taken for increased mana reservation efficiency so that you can use the recommended reservation skillMake sure and take as many of the nearby life percent nodes as you can for survival. Note: The skill tree above is updated for the new season (3.25).

Defensive Layers

When you kill an enemy during a flask effect your poison damage will spread to all nearby enemies with the Master Toxicist ascendancy. With the Nature's Boon ascendancy flasks will gain three charges every three seconds and you will have a 20% chance not to expend a flask charge when using your potions. And with the Master's Alchemist ascendancy you will remove elemental ailments when you use a flask and have a 50% chance to not expend flask charges when a potion is used. This build also has the strong defensive advantage of using a ranged attack with a shield.

Gem Notes

  1. Steelskin is the recommended guard skill for this build because Immortal Call requires you to use potions more often and Molten Shell requires very high armour to be effective.

  2. Poisonous Concoction of Bouncing is a new transfigured gem that can be used in high mob density areas like Delve but has poorer single target than Poisonous Concoction because the bounces often miss priority targets. Poisonous Concoction of Bouncing also consumes eight charges from a life flask instead of one. You should replace Awakened Greater Multiple Projectiles Support for Awakened Added Chaos Damage Support when using Poisonous Concoction of Bouncing.

  3. Wither Totems are used with Spell Totem Support to give a 6% increase to your chaos damage stacking up to 15 times.

  4. Summon Flame Golem gives a 20% damage increase, 2% life recovery on Culling Strike, kills enemies at 10% life with Culling Strike Support, and provides an extra target for enemies to attack.

  5. Poisonous Concoction is one of the strongest poison builds in the game but if you think you would prefer to try a very solid bow build that can make use of a strong weapon the Tornado Shot Guide can be found here Tornado Shot Deadeye.
