Important Tree Nodes

The best ascendancy order is Crave the Slaughter, Flawless Savagery, Rite of Ruin, and Blitz. A Watcher's Eye jewel should be used for up to 6% life, 6% energy shield, 6% mana, 60% increased cold damage while affected by Hatred, and damage penetrates 15% cold resistance while affected by Hatred. You can also use a Fight for Survival jewel in the blue circle above in standard to make your cold damage with Frost Blades penetrate 15% cold resistances. The Fortify Mastery should also be taken for 23% reduced damage taken from hits without Fortify Support so that you can use a better damage support gem. The Mana Mastery is also recommended for 12% increased mana reservation efficiency so that you can use the recommended reservation skills. This is a melee build so make sure and take as many of the nearby life percent nodes as you can for survival.

Defensive Layers

The Rite of Ruin ascendancy provides you with stun immunity when you are above 25 Rage. The Fortify Mastery gives a 23% damage taken reduction for hits. Enduring Cry is used to generate Endurance charges which increase your elemental resistances and reduce your physical damage taken. Marauders also have a high number of life nodes available in their tree which helps with survival. This build also has the defensive advantage of using a staff which can have a high chance to block attacks.

Reservation Skills

Grace is almost always the best defensive aura and gives very high evasion. Hatred is the best offensive aura for this build and increases your cold damage significantly. Dread Banner should also be used and gives a 20% chance to Impale, 20% increased Impale effect, and lowers the accuracy of nearby enemies. Hatred can be used once you have the 12% mana reservation efficiency from the Mana Mastery and a level 4 Enlighten Support to decrease the mana reservation cost of your skills.

Gem Notes

  1. Steelskin is the recommended guard skill for this build because Immortal Call requires you to use potions more often and Molten Shell requires very high armor to be effective.

  2. Vaal Ancestral Warchief and Ancestral Protector should be used together on higher life enemies to deal damage, increase your melee damage, and increase your attack speed.

  3. Enduring Cry is a warcry that provides over a 2200 life heal over one second, generates Endurance charges, gives an extra 2% increased physical damage reduction per charge, and gives 2% increased elemental resistances per charge. You should also link the new Call to Arms gem to Enduring Cry to instantly cast it on cooldown.

  4. Summon Flame Golem gives a damage increase, 2% life recovery on Culling Strike, kills enemies at 10% life with Culling Strike Support, and provides an extra target for enemies to attack.

  5. If you would like another capable build that teleports through enemies and still does great damage you can also check out the Flicker Strike Champion Guide here Impale Flicker Strike Champion Guide.
