Charge Zeal Hyrbid Paladin Guide for PvP
PvP Rank: C Class / PvM Rank: F Class

Introduction
The Charge Zeal Hybrid Paladin can be made with Fanaticism, max damage/attack rating/life charms, and the Fortitude runeword chest armor for 300% enhanced damage. Physical Zealots can sometimes have lower damage than some of the other classes in PvM and they have a spread out attack which is why its PvM rating is so low. The Charge Zeal Hybrid Paladin is also one of the weakest melee PvP builds but you can also check out the Physical Dual Dream Zealot if you want a stronger build that uses Charge with Fanaticism and Conviction. You can also try out the Smite Paladin for what is considered one of the most powerful melee builds in the game which can be found in the menu. However, if you still wish to try out the Charge Zealot Hybrid then read on.

Hybrid Zealadin Paladin Gear

Weapon (When You Need Block)
Grief Berserker Axe (Eth Tir Lo Mal Ral) - This weapon has range 3 which is important for Zeal but it's sometimes considered bad manners in PvP. If you use a Grief Berserker Axe you will need at least 38% increased attack speed to reach the final attack speed breakpoint with 20% increased attack speed on your gloves. For a good manners substitute you can use an Ethereal Breath of the Dying Berserker Axe (Vex Hel El Eld Zod Eth) instead for high damage and a guaranteed 60% increased attack speed modifier.

Shield (When You Need Block)
Phoenix Sacred Targe (Vex Vex Lo Jah) - The Sacred Targe shield base has the highest block chance of the Paladin shields and can have up to 45% to all resistances. This shield gives up to 400% enhanced damage, level 10-15 Redemtion aura, 5% to maximum lightning resistance, 10% to maximum fire resistance, and fire absorb.

Weapon Vs. Non-Physical Builds
Ethereal Breath of the Dying War Pike (Vex Hel El Eld Zod Eth) - This weapon should be used when you don't need a shield for range 5 and higher damage than a one handed weapon. It has very high damage, 60% increased attack speed, and 30 to all attributes.

Weapon Switch
Call to Arms (Amn Ral Mal Ist Ohm) - Used for up to +7 to Battle Orders with a Spirit Paly Shield (Tal Thul Ort Amn) which has a lower strength requirement than a Monarch shield for another +2 to all skills. You can also optionally switch to a Demon Limb unique weapon in town for level 23 Enchant and then switch back to your Call to Arms.

Helmet
Crown of Ages (Ber Ber) - This helmet gives up to 15% reduced physical damage taken which can be increased to 31% with two Ber runes, +1 to all skills, 30% faster hit recovery, 30% to all resistances, up to two sockets, and very high defense.

Helmet (Resistances)
Kira's Guardian (Um'd) - This helmet should be used against Cold Sorceresses, Conviction Paladins, and Infinity builds because they significantly lower your resistances. Kira's Guardian gives up to 70 to all resistances, cannot be frozen, and 20% faster hit recovery.

Body
Fortitude (El Sol Dol Lo) - Gives up to all resistances +30%, 300% enhanced damage, high life per level, 5% to maximum lightning resistance, and a 20% chance to cast level 15 Chilling Armor when struck. You can use Charge to run fast without Enigma.

Gloves (PvP)
Blood Gloves - Look for Blood Gloves with 20% increased attack speed, 10% crushing blow, life, and high resistances. Blood Gloves can be crafted using a pair of Sharkskin Gloves with a Perfect Ruby, Nef rune, and a magic jewel in the Horadric Cube.

Gloves (PvM)
Dracul's Grasp - These gloves are best in slot for PvM because they have Life Tap which recovers a large amount of life on hit and have 10% life stolen per hit, 25% chance of open wounds, up to 15 strength, and 10 life after each kill. These gloves shouldn't be used in PvP however because the Life Tap on them is considered very bad manners in duels.

Belt (Default)
Verdungo's Hearty Cord - Use this belt in PvP for up to 15% reduced physical damage taken, 40 vitality, replenish life +13, and 10% faster hit recovery which helps you reach the 48% faster hit recovery breakpoint.

Belt Vs. Lightning Builds
Thundergod's Vigor - Gives 10% to maximum lightning resistance, 20 lightning absorb, 20 Strength, 20 Vitality, and a 5% chance to cast level 7 Fist of the Heavens when struck.

Belt (PvM)
String of Ears - This belt is the best option for PvM for up to 8% life leech (life leech has full effect in PvM but only partial effect in PvP), 15% reduced physical damage taken, and magic damage taken reduced by 15.

Feet
Gore Riders - These boots give 30% faster run walk, 15% deadly strike, 15% crushing blow, and 10% chance of open wounds.

Feet Vs. Lightning & Cold Builds That Lower Your Resistances
Natalya's Boots - These boots have 40% faster run walk (important), up to 25% lightning resistance, and up to 25% cold resistance.

Feet Vs. Fire Builds
Infernostride - Because the recommended Phoenix shield has 10% to maximum fire resistance, you don't need Hotspur boots for 15% to maximum fire resistance. Infernostride have 20% faster run walk (important), higher defense, 10% to maximum fire resistance, and 30% fire resistance. They can be Up'd to Wyrmhide Boots using a Lem Ko and Perfect Diamond in the Horadric Cube.

Amulet
Metalgrid - This amulet gives up to 450 to attack rating, high defense, and up to all resistance +35% to over stack your resistances.

Rings
Raven Frosts - You can use two Raven Frosts which each give up to 250 attack rating, 20 dexterity, 20% cold absorb, and cannot be frozen which is helpful for attack rating and for fighting builds that deal cold damage.
Wisp Projector - Should be used when you don't need high attack rating for its level 2 Oak Sage and up to 20% lightning absorb.

Rings (Absorb)
Switch one Raven Frost for a Dwarf Star which gives 15% fire absorb when fighting fire damage builds and switch one Raven Frost for a Wisp Projector for up to 20% lightning absorb when fighting lightning damage builds.

Ring/Amulet Vs. High Defense Classes
Angelic Ring & Amulet - These two set items are excellent against high defense classes like Barbarians and Paladins for their extremely high attack rating, 10 dexterity, and high life. They can be combined with a Raven Frost for even higher attack rating.

Charms
Hellfire Torch for +3 Paladin Skills, Annihilus for +1 to all skills, 1 long duration poison damage small charm to cancel enemies' life regeneration, two 5% faster hit recovery small charms to hit the 48% faster hit recovery breakpoint, and the rest of your inventory should be filled with maximum damage/attack rating/life charms. You can also switch some of your charms for resistance charms with life when fighting elemental builds that lower your resistances in PvP.

Mercenary Type
Act 2 Might Mercenary

Mercenary Weapon
Ethereal Reaper's Toll - Gives 15% life stolen per hit and a 33% chance to cast the Decrepify curse on striking.
Mercenary Armor
Ethereal Fortitude (El Sol Dol Lo) - Gives 300% enhanced damage, up to all resistances +30%, life per level, 5% to maximum lightning resistance, and a 20% chance to cast level 15 Chilling Armor when struck.

Mercenary Helmet
Ethereal Andariel's Visage (Ral'd) - Gives +2 to all skills, 10% life leech, -30% fire resistance, and 30 strength. Ral rune gives 30% fire resistance to counter the -30% fire resistance on this helmet but you can also use a 30% fire resistance jewel with other modifiers.

Budget Mercenary Weapon
Insight (Ral Tir Tal Sol) - Gives up to level 17 Meditation which gives high mana regeneration for movement with Charge.

Budget Mercenary Armor
Duriel's Shell - Gives all resistances +20%, 50% cold resistance, life per level, 15 strength, and cannot be frozen.

Budget Mercenary Helmet
Tal Rasha's Helmet - Gives 10% life stolen per hit, 15% to all resistances, and 60 life.

Note: Ethereal items don't lose durability on mercenaries.

Hybrid Dual Dream Zealadin Strategy
This character is capable of high single target damage and a very fast run speed when using the Charge skill. Charge can quickly close the distance with casters and ranged attackers which allows you to use Fortitude for your body armor for 300% enhanced damage instead of Enigma for Teleport. Charge also allows you to stun ranged attackers and casters like Sorceresses so that you can quickly finish them off with Zeal. One of the weaknesses of this build is fighting summoning builds like Druids and Summon Necromancers because your Zeal attacks will be spread out to multiple targets. Charge also sometimes misses which means you will be too close to the opponent to Charge again and that's when you should start using Zeal to damage them. If the opponent isn't built for block and/or defense you can chain Charge attacks to knock them back repeatedly which can result in a very fast kill.

Zealadin Paladin Leveling Items
You can start using Hsarus' Belt and Gloves once you have 30 strength and are level 3 for added defense and attack rating per level. Civerb's Cudgel is an excellent starter weapon that increases in damage as you level and it only requires level 9. You can add in Angelic Amulet and Ring once you are level 12 for very high attack rating and life and you can use a Manald Heal ring for up to 7% mana stolen per hit as early as level 15. Aldur's weapon socketed with three Shaels can also be switched to at level 42 for a better low level weapon. Smoke (Nef Lum) is a budget body armor that only requires level 37 and is an excellent inexpensive starter runeword that can be used early on for 20% faster hit recovery and an easy all resistances +50%.
