The Cow Level Lightning Fury Javazon Guide

Introduction

Lightning Fury Javazons (Amazons) are debatably the best class for farming The Secret Cow Level because of how strong Lightning Fury is at AoE damage. The cow level is also one of the best magic find spots and can drop a lot of profitable bases if you know which ones are of value (which is explained in a later section). The cow level drops a high number of charms, gems, jewels, and runes which can be useful for crafting items. The cow level is also one of the best places in the game for farming high runes.

Lightning Fury Javazon Skills

The top spot for a cow level farmer goes to the Lightning Fury Amazon which deals very high AoE damage and is great at survival.

Recommendation: Lightning Fury Javazon Amazon

Stats: 156 Strength (enough for gear), 141 Dexterity (enough for eth Up'd Titan's), all remaining points in Vitality, and 0 Energy.

5 Penetrate (with high plus skills because it has diminishing returns)

All remaining points in Power Strike which is a synergy for Lightning Fury and Charged Strike.

Lightning Fury Javazon Gear

Weapon

Ethereal Titan's Revenge (Up'd) - This weapon is the best option for Lightning Fury Javazons because it has a lower requirement than the non ethereal version, leeches more mana, and has higher physical damage for lightning immune enemies. It also has replenishes quantity but requires you to keep three sets of ethereal Titan's Revenge to keep from running out when farming the cow level. You can keep a Horadric Cube in your inventory with two sets of ethereal Titan's Revenge to quickly switch to another set. Using three sets of ethereal Titan's Revenge actually saves time because you won't need to go to town to repair the normal Titan's Revenge. You should also Up your ethereal Titan's Revenges by using a Perfect Diamond, Lem rune, and Ko rune (for each weapon) in the Horadric Cube to increase their physical damage but keep in mind that doing this also raises their stat requirements.

Shield

Phoenix Monarch Shield (Vex Vex Lo Jah) - This shield is best in slot for the cow level because it has level 10-15 Redemption which quickly replenishes your life and mana. It also has up to 400% enhanced damage for physical immunes, 50 life, a 40% chance to cast level 22 Firestorm which is helpful for physical/lightning immune enemies, 10 to maximum fire resistance, and 5 to maximum lightning resistance.

Budget Weapon

Titan's Revenge - The budget weapon is the non ethereal version of Titan's Revenge. Titan's Revenge has +2 to Amazon Skills, +2 to Javazon and Spear Skills, up to 9% life leech, 30% faster run walk, replenishes quantity, and increased stack size.

Budget Shield

Spirit Monarch Shield (Tal Thul Ort Amn) - The budget shield has +2 to all skills, 35% cold resistance, 35% lightning resistance, 35% poison resistance, 55% faster hit recovery, vitality, mana, and magic absorb.

Weapon Switch

Call To Arms (Amn Ral Mal Ist Ohm) - Gives up to +7 to Battle Orders and should be combined with a Spirit Monarch (Tal Thul Ort Amn) for another +2 to all skills which also increases the level of your Battle Orders.

Helmet

Kira's Guardian (Um'd or -5 5 Lightning Facet'd) - This helmet gives up to 70 to all resistances, 20% faster hit recovery, and cannot be frozen. It's primarily used because the rest of your equipment besides your amulet lacks resistances when using the high end Phoenix Monarch shield. This item when Um'd can take you from negative resistances to capped resistances with just one item.

Budget Helmet

Tal Rasha's Helmet (Um'd) - When using the budget Spirit Shield (before you can afford a Phoenix Monarch) and budget Aldur's Boots which have high resistances you can use Tal Rasha's helmet as a budget option instead of Kira's Guardian for up to 30% to all resistances, 60 life, 10% life steal, and 10% mana steal. The budget Tal Rasha's helmet also eliminates the need for a dual leech ring.

Body

Enigma (Jah Ith Ber) - Gives 45% faster run walk (which is very important), +2 to all skills, 8% physical damage reduction, 5% increased maximum life, Teleport, and high strength so that you can equip Phoenix and Spirit which require 156 strength.

Gloves

Javazon Gloves - Look for 20% increased attack speed with +3 to Javelin and Spear skills which only rolls on magic gloves.

Belt

Thundergod's Vigor - Gives +3 to Lightning Fury, +3 to Lightning Strike, 10% to maximum lightning resistance, 20 lightning absorb, 20 strength, 20 vitality, a 5% chance to cast level 7 Fist of Heavens when struck, and 1-50 lightning damage.

Feet

War Travelers - 25% faster run walk, 50% magic find, 10 strength, 10 vitality, and 15-25 base weapon damage. This item is used for its added physical damage for the lightning immune enemies you encounter inside the cow level which includes The Cow King.

Budget Feet

Aldur's Boots - These budget boots can be used with the budget Spirit Shield to give 40% faster run walk, 50 life, and up to 50% fire resistance which is helpful because Spirit has 35% to all resistances except fire resistance.

Amulet

Mara's Kaleidoscope - Gives +2 to all skills, 5 to all attributes, and all resistances +30%.

Rings

Dual Leech Ring/Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band - Look for a rare ring with high life and mana leech with other great modifiers and use a Bul-Kathos's Wedding Band for +1 to all skills, up to 5% life stolen per hit, and life per level. When using the budget Tal Rasha's helmet you won't need a dual leech ring but you'll instead need a source of cannot be frozen without Kira's Guardian. You should then use a Raven Frost instead of a dual leech ring for cannot be frozen, up to 20 dexterity, 250 attack rating, and 20% cold absorb.

Charms

Hellfire Torch for +3 Amazon skills, Annihilus for +1 to all skills, Gheed's Fortune for up to 40% magic find, one poison damage small charm to cancel enemies life regeneration, one cold damage small charm to chill, and +1 Javelin and Spear Skills Grand Charms with faster run walk, faster hit recovery, and/or life. The most useful modifier on +1 Javelin and Spear Skills Grand Charms if you're only doing cow level runs is faster run walk because you will rarely take damage from cows. For the rest of your small charms you can look for faster run walk charms with resistances so that you can socket your helmet with a Lightning Facet instead of an Um rune.

Mercenary Type

Act 2 Holy Freeze Mercenary - Holy Freeze is an excellent defensive for cow level runs because it slows enemies movement speed and attack speed which helps significantly with keeping both you and your mercenary alive.

Mercenary Weapon

Ethereal Infinity (Ber Mal Ber Ist) - Infinity is used on your mercenary to lower the lightning resistance and defense of enemies.

Mercenary Armor

Ethereal Fortitude (El Sol Dol Lo) - Gives 300% enhanced damage, all resistances +30%, high life per level, 5% to maximum lightning resistance, and a 20% chance to cast level 15 Chilling Armor when struck.

Mercenary Helmet

Ethereal Vampire Gaze - Gives up to 20% reduced physical damage taken, 8% life leech, and has very high defense.

Budget Mercenary Weapon

Ethereal Insight (Ral Tir Tal Sol) - Gives up to level 17 Meditation for very high mana regeneration.

Budget Mercenary Armor

Duriel's Shell - Gives all resistances +20%, 50% cold resistances, life per level, 15 strength, and cannot be frozen.

Budget Mercenary Helmet

Tal Rasha's Helmet - Gives 10% life steal, all resistances +15%, and 60 life.

The Secret Cow Level is one of the best places in the game to find high runes and drops plenty of gems, jewels, mid runes, and charms which can be helpful for crafting. The sample below is provided to show you what you can find in 175 solo one player game runs of The Secret Cow Level. Each cow level typically takes more than 5 minutes so the number of runs in the sample are lower than some of the other samples on this site to give you an idea of what you can find in a similar amount of time.

All runs for the sample were done with low magic find from Enigma, War Travelers, and Gheed's Fortune Grand Charm which amounts to less than 200% magic find. Stacking magic find is not very important in the cow level because you'll just trade your runeword bases for unique items which is still sometimes a fair trade. High value items from the sample include: Vex Rune, Gul rune, Ist rune, a Lightning Skill Charm with 26 life, a Trap Skill Charm with 31 life, a Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band, a Tesla Paladin small charm, a 10% cold resistance 11 life small charm, a 7% small magic find charm, and a lot of items with Mal rune-Pul rune in value. It looks like the most profitable items from these runs came from high end charms. After enough cow level runs you will also have a high chance at dropping high runes that are higher than the Vex found in the sample because the cow level can drop runes all the way up to Zod rune. I've personally found a high variety of high runes up to Cham from The Secret Cow Level.

The Secret Cow Level Runeword Bases

20 Valuable Bases From The Secret Cow Level

1. Ethereal Polearms with 4 Open Sockets are of high value because they are used on mercenaries for multiple runewords.

2. Superior 15% Enhanced Defense Dusk Shrouds and Archon Plates are very valuable for four socket runewords like Fortitude.

3. High defense Dusk Shrouds and Archon Plates with 3 Open Sockets are valuable especially if they are superior.

4. Ethereal 4 Open Socket Body Armors with high defense are very valuable depending on their defense for merc Fortitude.

5. High damage claw bases with high plus skills like Lightning Sentry and Dragon Flight are worth a lot to Ghost Assassins.

6. High damage claw bases with +3 to Phoenix Strike are now of value in ladder because of the addition of the Mosaic claw.

7. Ethereal Berserker Axes, Colossus Blades, and Great Poleaxes have a middle value for ethereal Breath of the Dying.

8. Ethereal superior Berserker Axes, Colossus Blades, and Great Poleaxes with enhanced damage are valuable.

9. Berserker Axes and Phase Blades with 5 Open Sockets have a low value for the Grief runeword weapon in ladder.

10. Superior 5 Open Socket Berserker Axes and Phase Blades with enhanced damage are of high value in ladder.

11. Ethereal 5 Open Socket Decapitators can be used to roll ethereal Death runewords in ladder and are of moderate value.

12. Grand Matron Bows with +3 to Bow and Crossbow Skills and 4 Open Sockets are of high value especially if they are superior.

13. Paladin Shields with 4 Open Sockets and up to 45% all resistances can be valuable for tmultiple runewords.

14. +3 to Battle Orders Helmets with 3os can roll +5 to Battle Orders with the Delirium runeword which makes it high value.

15. +3 Tornado Druid Pelts with 3os can roll +5 to Tornado with the Delirium runeword which gives it a high value.

16. +3 to Fire Claws Druid Pelts with 3os can be used to roll the new Flickering Flame runeword in ladder which is of high value.

17. High Defense 3 Open Socket Bone Visages and Demonheads are useful for multiple runewords and are of moderate value.

18. High Defense 3 Open Socket Ethereal Bone Visages and Demonheads are useful for mercenaries and are of moderate value.

19. Ethereal Colossus Voulges have a small value because they are guaranteed to roll 4 open sockets with the socket quest.

20. Ethereal Vortex Shields with all resistances are very valuable for the Exile runeword which is best in slot for Smite Paladins.

Tips For Bases: With non-superior white and ethereal weapons you can roll a random number of sockets by using a Perfect Amethyst, Amn rune, and Ral rune in the Horadric Cube. With non-superior white and ethereal body armors you can also roll a random number of sockets by using a Perfect Topaz, Thul rune, and Tal rune in the Horadric Cube.
