The Best Weapons

The best weapons for each character might vary depending on what you want to specialize on but the characters with more than one options have information provided to help you make the best decision for your party. Below you will find all of the best weapons that can be upgraded into Ultimate Weapons in Final Fantasy XIII.

Fang's Weapon - Taming Pole

The Taming Pole once fully upgraded has very high balanced stats of 921 Strength and 921 Magic and is by far the best weapon for Fang when using her Commando role. As an added benefit, the Taming Pole (Rank 1 and Rank 2) has a synthesis group called Random Instant Chain that gives a small chance to fully fill the stagger bar with a Speed Sash, Energy Sash, or Survivalist Catalog equipped.

Rank 2 Catalyst: Uraninite

Location: Oerba (Chapter 9)

Hope's Weapon - Hawkeye

Hawkeye is Hope's best weapon once fully upgraded and has a low Strength of 202 and a high Magic of 917. It will improve Hope's roles as a Ravager and Medic. Hawkeye is also found early making it a great weapon to upgrade early in the game.

Rank 2 Catalyst: Perovskite

Location: Gapra Whitewood (Chapter 5)

Vanille's Weapon - Belladonna Wand or Healer's Staff

The Belladonna Wand once fully upgraded has 403 Strength and 807 Magic and will greatly improve Vanille's Saboteur role by increasing the success chance for debuffs. The Belladonna Wand is also found early making it a great item to upgrade early in the game.

Location: Sunleth Waterscape (Chapter 6) Rank 2 Catalyst: Uraninite

The Healer's Staff has balanced stats with 424 Strength and 424 Magic. The Healer's Staff will improve Vanille's Medic role and gives a large increase to the potency of Vanille's Cure and Curasa spells. The Healer's Staff (Rank 1 and Rank 2) also has a synthesis group called High: HP Power Surge that provides a 20% damage increase when Vanille is above 90% health when combined with a Mythril Bangle or an Iron Bangle.

Rank 2 Catalyst: Adamantite

Location: Nautilus Park (Chapter 8)

Lightning's Weapon - Lionheart

Lionheart has 508 Strength and 508 Magic which is a little lower than the Blazefire Saber but Lionheart has the added benefit of staggering enemies when the stagger bar reaches 90%. Lionheart (Rank 1 and Rank 2) also has a synthesis group called Random Instant Chain that gives a low chance to fully fill the stagger bar with a Speed Sash, Energy Sash, or Survivalist Catalog equipped.

Rank 2 Catalyst: Scarletite

Location: Beginning of Chapter 12

Sazh's Weapon - Rigels

Rigels has extremely high stats with 1006 Strength and 1014 Magic but comes with Stagger Lock which keeps Sazh from finishing off a stagger. Stagger Lock is a small downside for Sazh because he is better at the Commando and Synergist roles and the Ravagers in the party can handle the staggers. Rigels (Rank 1 and Rank 2) also has a synthesis group called Random Instant Chain which gives a small chance to instantly fill the stagger bar with a Speed Sash, Energy Sash, or Survivalist Catalog equipped.

Rank 2 Catalyst: Perovskite

Location: Hibernatorium (Chapter 10)

Snow's Weapon - Power Circle

Snow is the strongest character defensively and the Sentinel boosting weapons like Paladin and Umbra are never really needed for any activities in the endgame. The Power Circle will increase Snow's physical damage as a Commando with 925 Strength and 202 Magic. The high Strength stat on Power Circle will help with Snow's low damage output when compared with the other characters.

Rank 2 Catalyst: Scarletite

Location: After the Myrmidon Boss Fight (Chapter 1)
